Introducing Affordable Housing Partners — Why We Built This

Building affordable housing in California is extraordinarily hard. Finding the right people to do it with shouldn't be. Here's why we created a dedicated platform for the sector.

The Question We Kept Asking

If you are a developer launching a new LIHTC project in the Central Valley and you need a specialized tax credit consultant who has worked with TCAC before, how do you find one? If you are a nonprofit that has just completed your first affordable housing development and wants to understand who the experienced syndicators are in your region, where do you look? If you are a general contractor with a strong track record in affordable housing but no presence beyond your existing network, how do new clients find you?

The answer today, for most people, is a combination of word of mouth, LinkedIn searches, conference attendance, and personal introductions. Those methods work — eventually — but they are slow, unscalable, and inherently favor the well-connected over the well-qualified.

We built Affordable Housing Partners because we kept asking that question — and kept running into the same unsatisfying answers.

What the Sector Is Missing

California's affordable housing ecosystem includes thousands of organizations: developers, consultants, contractors, funders, property managers, advocates, and public agencies. They are all working toward the same goal — creating and preserving housing for Californians who need it most — yet they often do so in relative isolation.

There was no single place where you could search across all of these organization types, evaluate their experience, and reach out directly. There was no platform where a developer could compare general contractors by their verified TCAC project history. There was no directory where a first-time developer could discover which syndicators were active in their market.

That gap is what we set out to close.

What Affordable Housing Partners Is

Affordable Housing Partners is a purpose-built directory and professional network for California's affordable housing sector. The platform brings together:

  • Developers — nonprofit and for-profit organizations building LIHTC, HUD-financed, and mixed-income projects
  • Consultants — tax credit syndicators, environmental consultants, architects, TCAC application specialists, relocation coordinators, and more
  • Contractors and builders — general contractors with affordable housing experience, verified through TCAC project history
  • Funders and lenders — CDFIs, public agencies, and financial institutions providing construction and permanent debt
  • Property managers — organizations managing affordable portfolios across the state
Every partner profile shows not just contact information and a description, but a verified track record of TCAC-financed projects — the most credible evidence of real affordable housing experience in California.

The Goal

We are not building a social network for its own sake. The goal is concrete: more affordable units built, faster, by better-matched teams. Research is clear that experienced, well-networked development teams produce more projects, navigate regulatory hurdles more efficiently, and create higher-quality outcomes for residents.

Affordable Housing Partners is the infrastructure that makes those connections possible at scale. We are glad you are here.
